Don’t Look Back

I meant to mention this earlier and forgot. Probably you’ve seen it by now, but just in case: The guy who founded the band Boston told Mike Huckabee not to use the song “More Than A Feeling” in his campaign events and to drop it from the set list of Huckabee’s cover band:

“Boston has never endorsed a political candidate, and with all due respect, would not start by endorsing a candidate who is the polar opposite of most everything Boston stands for.”

Everything Boston “stands for”? Right.

Further diversion may be found at MKTG Tumblr, and the Consumed Facebook page.

I dunno, it’s pretty plausible that the band responsible for,
Smokin, smokin
Were cookin tonight, just keep on tokin
Smokin, smokin
I feel alright, mamma I’m not jokin, yeah.

would at least stand foursquare against the law-and-order elements of the Republican Party.
Also, I think it’s pretty clear from “Rock & Roll Band” that Boston self-identifies with working-class Americans:
Well, we were just another band out of Boston
On the road to try to make ends meet
Playin all the bars, sleepin’ in our cars
And we practiced right on out in the street
No, we didn’t have much money
We barely made enough to survive
But when we got up on stage and got ready to play
People came alive.

I’m thinking Boston stands for the principle of Two-fer Tuesdays, and perhaps the inalienable right to Rocktober.

Yeah, as dissappointing as this is, I was surprised when I worried my ASS OFF sneakin’ in a couple of joints into their reunion concert (Amanda), after waiting all that fuckin’ time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,…just to hear them pushin’ a Drug-Free, Vegetarian message on their album at the time. Screw it. I got stoned, and their music was fantastic. Since I missed ’em in 1978, thought I’d do some reminiscing……………………………………………….! Excellent!!!
