Brand power update

I’m sure you’ve seen this, but if you haven’t, you should. The AP says:

Anything made by McDonald’s tastes better, preschoolers said in a study that powerfully demonstrates how advertising can trick the taste buds of young children.

In comparing identical McDonald’s foods in name-brand and plain wrappers, the unmarked foods always lost.
Even carrots, milk and apple juice tasted better to the kids when they were wrapped in the familiar packaging of the Golden Arches….

Further diversion may be found at MKTG Tumblr, and the Consumed Facebook page.

Or McDonald’s just taste so awesome as a kid it overpowers everything! Who in America honestly has not grwon up on the Mc-E-deez?

Yet, the propaganda of FAST FOOD NATION and SUPER SIZE me has led me astray. Although the I do dabble with the Fries every now and then.

Reminds me of the classic Louis Cheskin studies on good-booze-in-bad-packages vs. bad-booze-in-good-packages that are described in Thomas Hine’s “The Total Package”
